They say you can take the boy out of the country but never the country out of the boy. That is true in my case.
My family and I are life long cottagers and my bare bum proves it.
We started renting in Georgian Bay when I was a wee guy. Talk about care free and loving it. Back then sunscreen was baby oil. I can't believe it's been nearly 50 years since that photo was taken and I can still remember the feelings from being at that cottage.
It was a rustic cottage always filled with family and friends. As you might be able to tell that cottage sat atop the Canadian Shield and there wasn't much in the way of shade. We spent our days as close to the water as possible if not in it most of the time.
If The Dock Ledge was available back then I am sure it would have been installed and used constantly. We were always looking for a way to beat the heat.
